1/13/2024 0 Comments Gus goes to cybertown play online![]() I walk/drive by her house sometimes and wonder how she is. She was really nice, and as far as I know, she still lives in town not too far from us. I remember the woman who operated the night library-Mrs. It was there I could freely play on the computers and really explore the internet. When I was somewhere in my late single-digits, my mom started taking me up the street once or twice a week to the OTHER elementary school (the one I DIDN’T go to because of small-town politics and weird town divisions) so I could get books from their night library. In our older years, we were taught how to access the internet…I have vague recollection, because it wasn’t every class period, and quite honestly, I’m tempted to take back my opening statement about learning how in elementary school. The class favorite was always Oregon Trail or messing around on KidPix. Sometimes we had lessons, like writing a “paper” (like two poorly structured paragraphs with erroneous syntax and nonsensical subjects) in the proprietary word processing application to teach us how to type on a keyboard and sometimes we spent the hour playing games. I remember walking single file from our classroom to the computer lab where the computer teacher (who was also my Challenge (yes, this was also a name used it was the gifted & talented program) teacher) would allow us to choose a boxy Mac (later a sleek, colorful iMac) to sit at and do stuff. In 1991, the internet’s doors were opened to the masses, roughly three years after I slid down the chute and out into this world. ![]() That is, the internet was actually developed in 1960 and was used by the government to be able to transfer data over a network, allowing their computers to “talk” to each other. ![]() I’m older than, as I noted above, the public internet. That’s right, folks, yours truly is older than the world wide web… sort of. Regardless, it was in the 90s, and for those of you who are unaware, the public internet was launched in 1991. I can’t remember if we started going to Computers (this was the name of the “class”, I can’t make this up) in first grade (that would make me, like, 6-7 years old) or third grade (I would be, like, 9). I learned how to use the internet in elementary school. Joke’s on you, though, because there are no captions…! If you only came for photos, scroll all the way down to the carousel. So be patient! You will get the wedding content you’re looking for! I ~promise~ once everything is said and done and our party is finalized, I will do a whole post on everything we did with photos (and maybe some video, not sure yet). We’re filling them with custom curated goodies and waiting for things to come in for the boxes. Regardless, we’re working on these proposal boxes that have cut/applied vinyl on them with a funny statement on the front with the question popped on the inside. My mom told me I should only have 2-3 bridesmaids. I don’t mind if the numbers are uneven by 1 or 2, which I think we were able to get to. So I have been badgering my fiancé to, like, think of more men he’d like in his party. Problem is, I also want my fiancé’s daughters in the party, and he has a good friend he wants in the party, and then I have a great friend from art school, and. Of course I could make this extremely easy on myself and just ask my matron of honor and like 2 bridesmaids and call it a day. I know that’s the complete opposite of what most people want, but seriously… I am lowkey hoping some of my girls say no. ![]() There are two women, three even, whom I want to ask and have as a part of my party, but seeing as I already have 11 on my roster… Let me tell you, having multiple close girlfriends as well as those I’m obligated to ask makes this part very stressful. I can’t tell anyone.īecause the stuff we’re working on are in preparation of proposing to our wedding party. Then there are the questions about what I’m working on when I say I’m working on wedding stuff and the thing is, I can’t tell you. The ones that are available are too expensive for us. Apparently the venues where we want to have it are already booked as they’re private estates/vacation rentals. Ever since Luis and I got engaged, I’ve been getting asked a variety of wedding-themed questions: did you set a date? Where are you having it? How’s the planning going? Etc.
